Well gang I am now a part of the unemployed sector since 6/26. You don't realize how bad it is untill you get out there and visit the unemployment office or the workforce development office. Got a great family and the wife is working full time so we will see what happens. Anyone else in this sittuation feel free to vent. We all gotta stick together thru this mess.

I was laid off 5/29, and I have never had such a hard time finding a job in my life. We've saved alot of money on childcare, with me being a stay at home dad now. I enjoy the time with the kids, but I wish I had more time for fishing. They just complain the whole time when I have tried to take them, but that's just the way it is sometimes. Either way, we all have to stay positive, and hopefully we all will become employed again.

Ok folks here is the deal. I was offered a job yesterday at a private school. They offered 30K which come out to 14.42 an hour plus OT. There will be OT at the very beginning of school but once things are underway I don't see much OT happening. The breakdown with a 80.0 hour pay period is 449.00 take home per week which is 49.00 more than I get from unemployment. If I can stretch out the OT to maybe 10.0 hours per pay period I would bring home 506.00 per week. Like I mentioned once things are underway I don't see much OT happening. It is 50 miles round trip. And I may have to sign a contract which I do not know the terms of yet. In some education contracts there is a clause that if you leave in the middle of the school year you owe them a percentage of your salary. I sent them an email with a list of questions and should hear back from them today so I can make a decision.

It's tough out there for sure. Keep your head up. I think things will get better late 09 into 2010

If you can work, you should work. Our weak society doesn't need anymore people sitting at home drawing unemployment. I especially despise the people drawing that have spouses making money and providing insurance while they work for cash and fraud the system. Just a little mini-rant about some of the crap I see, I know there aren't many jobs out there.

I have been out of work since 2/2. Like others have said it is really tough looking for work. I spend all day cruising employment sites, checking newspapers, and calling people. Luckily my wife was able to pick up health care but the savings is dwindling to nothing and it gets discouraging when you count your money based on how many months of mortgage payment you have left.
