Since some are gearing up for the walleyes to happen. Lets here some of those time tested walleye secrect tactics.........

I am kinda partial to rivers, so my favorite is slip bobber and minnow drifted along the runs.. Or casting some shad raps through the same areas.

Maybe some jiggin in the holes... No bad thoughts here

I like to use the "new" tactic that materialized over on the Maumee in Ohio a few years back. People are using an egg sinker in the 1/4 to 1/2 oz. range with a leader and a floating jig head, tipped with a 2-3" twister tail. I always use the scent impregnated soft plastics like Berkely Powerbait, Yum, etc. The best color combos are flo. Red head with white body, Chart. green head with Chart./Clear body, Orange on Orange, etc. Switching colors often is key. color can change from day to day.

that is pretty much how i do it as well length of the leader will change as well .

Hey thanks guys for your ideas on walleye. That gives me a idea on what to use so I don't look so crazy when I go for the first time. Keep them coming.

I got on a mess of nice walleyes last week. Took them right next to a nice pile of cole slaw and hush puppies with another nice side of german potato salad. What a catch!!!

My best luck catching 'eyes is tricking them into thinking I'm actually fishing for river smallies or steelhead...fools them every time.
This method does however cut down on the number of river smallies and steelhead you will actually catch when you try for those...it's always something.

Bubba, you have a preference on tails??? I saw an advertisement for a Mann's Twister Tail that they are touting as the "strongest" one, that will stay on barbless hooks the best.

What type tails do you use and do you use live bait to? I am planning on going to the Elkhart dam sometimes and I would like to know a little bit on how to fish below the dam.

Sounds good Bubba. Thanks. Howdy Quail, and 410. I thought about going tomorrow, but all this rain makes me wonder if it would be a waste of time. I know the rivers were swelling when I drove down to Greensburg earlier this afternoon. Down there everything was flooding. I imagine it will be here tomorrow too. Any thoughts from the river rats??

 Unfortunately we're in this silly cycle again where it's raining on the weekend, nice thru the week, I generally wait a day or two for things to settle after the rains and then "burn" a vacation day...

It was the rain...it was the wind...got to sunny...then got too cloudy...

Did feel pretty good to just get out and wet a line, been awhile.

These beauties were caught last year in Minn. We fished from Mem. day to about June 4th. Although the fishing was slow, we caught some real quality fish. Thought you guys might like to see some Goldies!!! Actually, Treehugger said it wrong. That's me on the left (the one that looks like a hit man), and my buddy Adam Sattison on the right. Go ahead and say it Bo....!!!!

Oh yeah saw every color of the Aurora Borealis you could imagine (Armstrong)!I saw the most awesome display back in '97!!!!!! At one point it was like a giant rainbow colored snake slithering across the sky. And, we were totally sober.....Seriously!!!!

My grandmas nephew used to own some cabins on Armstrong. In fact, my Grandpa who taught me how to walleye fish up there basically died of lung cancer on Armstrong lake back in 1987.

I have a good friend that lived on Eagles Nest #2 in bearhead state park..... His cousin has a cabin on Armstrong. Don't remember his name other than we called him Louie! Some pretty darn good fishing up there. I'm going to Itasca county this year. Should be good! How could it not be?

Now wait a minute Crooked. Eagles Nest #2 isn't in Bearhead Lake State Park (maybe I'm wrong). I think I know who your friend is. Did he go to school with you at C.C?

Dean, I stand corrected Eagle's Nest is not in Bearhead- but is VERY close. The guy I know is Doug Elkins. At any rate it's a hell of alot different up there! His cousin had a place on Armstrong. Doug is probably 10 to 15 years older than me.

Fished the Tippe outside Warsaw this afternoon. River was in good condition, but the water was COLD! Got bumped a couple of times but failed to get a hookset. Skunked again.
