Ok, what types of Snakes do you have to look out for while tromping thru your favorite Shrooming woods?
We have your common Garter, Milk and Blacks but we also have a small rattler in the area the Mississauga rattlesnake they are small but testie little reptiles, I don't think their bite is fatal but it can make you sick.

copperheads and rattlers. i would rather be around a rattler. a copperhead will lay motionless in a group of people with no fear all day till you step on him and then you'vebeen had. they have no fear.

That is the nice thing about hunting in northeast Indiana, deer might not be as plentiful as in the south, but I'm at the top of the food chain. No bears, cougars, copperheads, scorpions, etc., etc..

I turkey hunt in Southern Indiana. I have ran into those big black water snakes, not sure if they are poisonous or not but they can make you sick. We have seen blue racers, and your typical northern variety. I may not be the fastest human on earth, but you sure can smell me when I run from those things. I cant stand snakes im a big sissy.

well i haven't ran on to any rattlers here and only 2 relitively small copperheads here while working. but i worked at ft. knox for 6 yrs. in ky. that place is full of em. biguns. you almost have to prod a rattler to strike he'll either try to leave or make his self known. but 95% of the time he's still reluctant to strike. a copperhead on the other hand won't get out of your way and they seem to have a bad temper when touched. i almost got it twice there. don't kill them if you don't have too or the black snakes or cow snakes cause they'll feed on them. i have seen in the wild black snakes killing small rattlers and eating them. i don't like snakes but i honostly would rather face a rattler than an ill tempored big snapper

A blue racer will kill rattlers too. My buddy killed a 63 inch blue racer in Steuben Co. a few years ago.
