slow my troll

Last year I bought an 18 foot starcraft pleasure/fishing boat. Tried using it for salmon fishing, but couldn't keep the speed slow enough to troll. The boat is completely fiberglass, and has a 305. I may try going with a smaller prop, but have been told that could create complications. If anyone has something else to try I would sure appreciate the info.

I know a couple guys with the same problem. One of them tied a drift sock on his bow, corrected his problem but, he had to purchase a really good one. He tore up a cheap one the first time out.

Other guy installed one of them trolling plates that mount behind your prop. Worked but not cheap.
