No fish yet...
Shocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was once again reminded why walleye is my favorite sport fish to chase. Tonight my dear mother Nancy pan fried some 'eyes. We also had baked taters, fresh cole slaw, corn, and topped it off with this Amish freindship bread that was out of this world. That was one of the best meals I've et in quite some time. It was da bomb!!!!!

I know..... I'll apologize personally to the beagle if given the chance lol...
Thanks Jeff, I told the little beagle what you said about Dean and then it took a poo poo. Tree old 410 all ways carries extra 5 gallon buckets with him. Well Tree, Bruce and I went fishing today and has 67 gills and 24 of them were over the 9 1/2" mark, we had 2 that was 10 3/4" and one red ear that was 11 1/4". Good day to fish, OH YES any day is a good day to fish

That might work, Tuck.
My wife and youngest daughter are out on a school trip, so I took my oldest daughter to the river yesterday. It was her first time fishing while wading a river and she had a blast. She caught her first walleye ever and was thrilled about that, even though the fish was below the size limit. Lots of white bass kept everyone busy. Her words when we left, "Can we do this again tomorrow?"

I wouldn't mind hearing some of your crankbait tips, James. Crankbaits tend to be one of the last things I try if I'm not catching fish on other lures. I picked up quite a few crankbaits this past spring to fish them more often this year, force myself to get over that weakness in my fishing tactics. I've used this technique often in the past, pick certain goals/lures for a year that I've had little experience with in the past and force myself to figure those techniques out. One thing I hate is a one trick pony, like to feel I have the ability to use what ever the day calls for.

Took my oldest out to the river the last two days. We caught a mixed bag of white bass, carp, smallmouth, cats and a few small walleyes. Everything was caught using jigs and grubs.
Today it was a trip to Gander Mountain. She's now sporting a new rod/reel and a tackle bag full of goodies to go with it.
Tomorrow we'll sneak out of a little yard work for some spinnerbait lessons, maybe teach her to texas rig a worm.......good times ahead.

That is exactly why I picked up these x-raps. 3 casts and a fish does a world of wonders for the confidence. I'm a jigging fisherman, worms, jigs, tubes, that is what I do. Topwater second. I wanted to make myself more rounded and toss more crankbaits of all kinds this year. Been doing a good job of making myself do it lately, and they are yeilding results.

Yes, that's where we've gone the last two times out. Bit of a drive, but there's always fish there, so it's a good place to make sure she gets a few on the line. We'll start hitting the lakes closer to home here now, and trying some new techniques for her.....she's got jigs and grubs down pat, and her casting is really pretty good. Can't wait to have her slipping a frog over the scum and have a bass explode on it, told her it's a heart pumping thrill!

"Honey Do" lists kept me off the water most of the weekend. I did go to a local pond early this morning with my daughter for 1/2 an hour, managed to catch 4 largemouths. The bite was odd, they'd only hit a plastic worm dead sticked...twitch the worm, and they wouldn't touch it.

Finally got out last night and got onto some real nice 'gills. I caught several that went 10"...sorry teammates no pictures. Caught them on crickets. Found several bedding areas that were still loaded with 'gills and some that were empty. Going back out this evening, tomorrow morning, tomorrow evening, and Sunday morning. We've been camping since Wednesday evening. Sure is hard to get up and drag into work knowing the fishing is excellent right now. Good luck!!!

Hit the water at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Lake was blanketed with fog and Canada honkers flying overhead, what a morning!!! Pulled up on the first spot and had 10" gills on the first 3 consecutive casts. Fished for about an hour and had 14 bruiser gills in the basket. Had to head in early due to picture day at the softball park. Got back out later in the afternoon and hooked up on a few more. Had a classic fish fry in the old black iron skillet over the open campfire Saturday evening. Nothing like fresh fish cooked over a campfire. Great weekend for camping and fishing...glad to finally get out and enjoy it.

I'd have to agree with that statement!!!
Camped and fished at Mississinewa this weekend, got into some nice crappie and a 24" Cat agian. I seem to be hooking the cats unintentionally every other time I go out. Not that i'm complaining just seems weird!

Read between the lines. Weimer hasn't been fishing and is wanting someone to invite him over as a "friend" to share fish with.
Caught 33 bluegills and 3 bass last night. Didn't have time to post a pic since it gets dark around 9:30 these days. Bass were all 15-16" and the largest bluegill was 8". Easy fishing now, did this in an hour or so despite running to baseball practice in between to get my 10 year old and helping my 3 year old (Rob) with his lightening fast retrieve. Never realize how fast they can crank until you have to stop and throw out for him each time. He had fun. Fish didn't really hit the spinning rod with a beemoth though, used a fly rod to catch all the gills. Rob reeled in the bass on a Shenko worm.
PS: 410, dad had 80 yesterday. First I talked to him in a week, so you know what he is doing....I'll take pictures at the next fish fry for you.

A boy has got to do what a boy has to do to shoot a fish. I'll shoot at them no matter what depth if it means getting some shooting in. Finning them on top is fun and highly successful. But shooting them below the surface is a real challenge and about as much fun, even with a bunch of misses. Just aim REAL LOW and out in front of their lips.;)
Nice shoot Dec, One question did you shot the carp after drinking or before drinking that makes a differents on how deep it was. HA! HA! HA!

Nice carp! I used to shoot carp quite a bit. I used to go to the creek and chase carp that size all day...what a blast! Used the old Bear Whitetail Hunter. Bro brought over a 48" 41lb grass carp he shot Monday to show the kids... biggest we'd ever shot. They were cruising the shallows in a small lake near his house. I don't know that my old Bear bow has enough power left to penetrate a carp that big. Between seeing the his carp and your pics, I'm starting to get the itch again. May have to refit the deer bow with the reel and give it a try.

Try this.
My brother used to have a couple of spots on White River... the spots are still there but the boat is gone...where the Mulberry trees hung over the water. When the berries were ripe and would fall off, the carp would gather under the tree and suck those berries off the top like candy. He would cut up a purple or berry colored worm into 1/2 inch long pieces and flip'em out there on a fly rod. He had a blast!
Unfortunately, the berries never paid attention to my schedule... I never could get there at the right time.

I hit a pond yesterday afternoon, and let me tell you what. I have never seen fish that aggressive. Fighting over worms, slamming the lure, just didn't matter, somedays they are just hunting, and that was yesterday, rut must be on. Not any great size to speak of, 16 inches or so was about as good as it got, but every other cast landed a fish. I was there under two hours, easily caught 25 fish.
The real story. I had just put a 16 inch fish back in the water, and this big ole truck of a she-bass comes by, i swear on everything good and holy, she could have ate that little bugger. She hung out for a bit, but wasn't interested in anything I tossed at her. She had to be an 8lb fish...i just don't see anyway around it...
I might go back to that pond...haha

OK, so it's not May anymore but here are some pics of gills I caught in May. Just wanted to let you all know I have caught some fish this year.

Way to go, teammate! That's more gills than I've caught all year:banghead3 . I used to have a guy that would deliver a bucket of gills to the house, not sure what happened to him...I think working has sucked the life out of him.
