I have heard rumors that they have been having alot of deer dying off from disease in southern indiana near the ohio, kentucky line near the ohio river, does anyone else know of this? I was told it was blue tongue disease or somthing like that, I think they said the area was called BEEBE ? Hopefully just some BS.

Bloomington paper had an recent article about what I believe they call EHD and several deer have been recently found around lake monroe. Unfortunately a good frost is the only thing that can kill the midge that causes the disease. Local biologist reported that while it is often deadly, not all deer that contract the disease will die. It also poses no threat to humans also.

I hunt in Orange County, the Paoli paper had an article about EHD and it has hit quite a few southern Indiana counties, Orange wasn't as bad as some others.
Were you talking about Vivay Indiana, located in Switzerland county on the Ohio river, they pronounce it veevee! I've heard that Madison, Jefferson and Vivay has been hit with the disease this year!

I thought i would add a little bit on the subject i live in switzerland county and the local CO said we could lose up to 70 percent of our population.. By the way its VEVAY not Vivay or however you spelled it!

I haven't had any problems in my area. I'm in Floyd County which is about as far South as you can get...

Believe I need to find a new place to hunt, with the deer that were taken out of the woods that we hunt and EHD this year, didnt see anything worth going back again. 5 dead deer 2 does and 3 1 1/2 to 21/2 yr bucks.
