This is a young deer that I've been watching this year. I had seen him a couple times, but did not have any trail camera pictures of him. Last Sunday I checked my camera that I had over a big scrape and was pleasantly surprised to find that I had 6 pictures of this deer. Nothing spectacular, but I just like his beam length for his age class.

Again, he's a young deer, but look at how much beam is hanging out past his G3's. Looooonnnnnngggg beams for such a young buck. I'm pretty confident that he's only a 2.5 year old. I'm hoping he stays put for the next few weeks so that he can make it through the year.

I would say your right about 2.5 years of age. He will definitely be a nice buck.

I stopped out yesterday to pull my camera, since I had moved it to a different scrape back in November.

I could not believe all the pictures I had of does and small bucks on this scrape ... over 100 total. Here are a couple I thought were cool.

Mr. Long Beams from earlier in this thread was back, but this time with a broken G2. I am really looking forward to watching this buck mature.

And he had been running with this new buck that I have never seen before. I got several pictures of this buck, but this one is the best. Definitely a young buck to watch down the road.

I thought these two were interesting when you talk scrape activity and the social structure of deer. Just going to prove that scraping goes way beyond a pre-rut activity. I had many deer in the scrape in January, but I liked these two photos. A young guy letting everyone in the neighborhood know that he is still around.:coolgleam

I've been running the same Leaf River digital camera since they first came out 4 or 5 years ago. My camera is out 8 months or so of the year every year and sun/rain/snow/ice/wind or anything else has yet to effect it.:coolgleam

NOPE! I use Wildview and Moultrie I40 cams. Both performed in the 1 degree temps we had earlier this month. The cams get a break from March thru June. The I40's battery life is crazy good even in with the single digit temps. The Wildview (cheap cam) used to drain 4 C batterys in less than one week.......I now run a 6V rechargable lead acid battery and I had it out for 3 weeks and checked the voltage and it was still 5.94V!!

Trailcams.......love 'em:)

Rechargeable lead acids are the way to go with these cams. I wish I would have done it last year. I used to spend $12 a month on batteries for this camera:coco: ....live and learn.

MAIN BEAM... EXACTLY HOW DO YOU RIG THIS...??? DO YOU HAVE TO RUN JUMPERS ACROSS THE CONTACTS... OR DO YOU JUST WIRE AT BOTH EXTREME ENDS...??? I USE (4) C's ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Very. Expect no more than 3 weeks in summer temps.....maybe one week in winter temps. Buy a rechargable battery it will save you $$.
