Has anyone ever used one of these (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=933258&cp=1179600.713890&parentPage=family), and, if so, what are your thoughts on it?

If that is the one that has a peg like the old jigglestick combos then I have used one. It does suit its purpose. I would think that if you are fishing shallow where you don't need all the advantages of a regular spinning reel then it would be fine. It is lightweight and economical.

I have a couple of those and dont really like them. When you lossen the knob to pull line out ( or to reel the line back in ) depending on whitch handed you are. It will lossen its self all the way up and fall apart. I acctually took it apart and put in a longer bolt, and this fixed the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I use spinning reels now, but am concerned that the twist they put in the line will make my jigs more likely to spiral when I'm working them. Do you guys worry about that at all?

Hand over hand....I thought I was supposed to just start walking backwards 20 feet until the gill is on the ice.
