Went out for the first hunt of the year. I got 10 minutes down the road and realized I forgot a couple of things. Then I quickly realized that I misjudged the time that I needed to be at the woods which put me into a rush. So, we pull up with it just starting to get light out. We hurry to get fully dressed and then my walk begins. I try to sneak up to my stand as quickly and quietly as possible. I get about 30 yards from my stand when I hear something. I turn my flashlight towards the noise and all I see is a shooter buck running between me and my stand running away from me digging like a dog trying to get away as fast as possible. That kinda bummed me out. So, I went ahead and climbed up in my stand and tried to relax. Not long after daylight I hear something, I turn and look back and a small buck is 10 yards behind me. He walked right past me out into a field. Then he got spooked by 2 coyotees that entered the same field. He took off and I watched the coyotees til they walked off. Then I saw 2 does pass in front of my stand just out of bow range. Shortly after that I watched 3 more does come from about 300 yards away get to about 100 yards out and then walked out of sight. I heard a turkey call right before I climbed down. It was a beautiful morning. My dad saw 8 deer as well. Great day to go hunting. I can't wait to get back out there next weekend.
