If anyone likes to elk hunt no nead to go way out west. Now you can hunt bear and elk in KENTUCKY. This year kentucky is having their first bear hunt. And in the late 1990s until 2005 the ky dnr have been releasing WILD FREE RANGING ELK in eastern kentucky, in the 700,000 acre daniel boone national forest,and on surrounding private property, so if you want to elk hunt you just need to go to east KENTUCKY,
There is also a big bear and elk population in michigan, wisconsin, pennsylvania, and in arkansas, and in tennessee. In the future ohio is considering haveing a bear hunt due to growing populations, and they are talking about reintroducing wild elk in southern ohio.

There is also a big bear and elk population in michigan

there is a pretty good bear population in Michigan but the elk herd is around 800 to 1000. they only allow residents to hunt and issue about 200tags thru a lottery. I've been hunting grouse in the center of elk range since 1990 and you really have to go looking for them to even see any.
