The great thing about Deer season is it can go from a bad season to a great one in about 5 seconds and then you forget all about the non-eventfull hunts.

Lack of deer/overhunting

In my opinion the dnr in Indiana has allowed people to harvest way to many does, when people overharvest does they can wipe out a localized deer herd. If you take one pregnant doe you are really taking 3 deer since does usually have 2 embreos in them in the late winter to early spring.

IF PEOPLE WANT TO SEE MORE BUCKS THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT WOULD BE TO IMPLEMENT OF 5 POINT RULE FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS (DURING ARCHERY SEASON ONLY) THAT WOULD SAVE THOUSANDS OF BUCKS

most other states already do this, most states have a point restrictions and or antler spread restrictions in certain areas, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SEE MORE BUCKS.

Sure not everyone would like this, but we cant be greedy we have to leave some deer behind for future generations to enjoy, maybe the 5 point rule could only apply for people over 18 and under 65, so youth and people over 65 would still be able to harvest whatever they want to. There should be something for everyone
People like me who want more big bucks need good places too, we also pay a lot of money for hunting equipment and liscences.

No one that I've talked to in my area would bother with anything under an 8 point. With a 1 buck rule there's no way any of us are going to waste it on a smaller buck.

Had a 6pt, spike and does come out at sunset today. Walking back to the truck there was a very nice 8 pt 50 yards out in the beans staring at us.

Last two days we've had a lot of movement some at noon and some right at sunset. Keep at it!

Yesterday I saw a deer checked in from Porter County that was a monster. The hunter said he also has not been seeing anything but that all changed about 6:30 that morning when his 15 point, dual drop tined and both brow tines were split deer came walking up to 25 yards!! He got his buck of a lifetime for sure. This buck had everything anyone could ever want in a deer.

Late to the stand this morning. Driving in about 20 min before legal light we saw a big basket horned buck, probably a 10 pt but no wider than 12 inches or so. He was chasing a doe. Saw a few more does driving in. Nothing from the stand. Mock scrape is still active and trail cam shows some does on it at 4pm yesterday. First daytime activity on it. Heating up.

Don't worry SB....This has been the second slowest year for me in 22yrs...Hunted most of the day today and saw a small four and two does..Same place last year on the same weekend I saw Seventeen in one morning..Guess what? The CORN is still up...I originally started this post because I have been more than frustrated..Three times out this week I saw NOTHING on my own property, yet my mock scrapes have fresh tracks in them...I think they are coming out of the corn at night and mid-day...It will get better...I HAVE TO BELIEVE.
