Yesterday I was at the LaPorte unemployment office. I have to drive there from Portage because the Portage unemployment office is a joke. Anyway, as I was walking past the front desk I overheard an employee tell a lady that there are no more state unemployment extensions. When I was finished with my business I asked the lady assisting me if that was true. She said yes, and that it was posted on the DWD web site. I found the document and I am going to post the link. The document was just updated on the 26th of January so it is recent. Basically if you started an extension you are good untill your balance runs out. It sounds like after that you are screwed. I have about 15 checks left then that's it. If this is true there are going to be a lot of Hoosiers in trouble. Maybe the feds will jump in to assist.

P.S. Of these bills only HB 1232 is really objectionable and should be defeated. Contact your legislator or the committee members to voice your displeasure at taking DNR out of the loop on this logjam bill. DNR objects as it puts fish habitat in jeopardy.
