Rabbit, woodcock, quail, ruffed grouse, squirrel, and they're nice to use on pheasants if your hunting on a preserve. Doves if your a really lucky shot and do a lot of praying the night before.
Off to the right. As the gun wears, it will move more toward the center. Although guns are different, it seems most new o/u's have the lever to the right.
"On most new top-lever break-action guns, including the Berettas, the lever is to the right of center when the barrels are closed (not with the barrels off). It moves toward the center as the locking system wears"
