I took a kid hunting this morning and he got a monster bird! It was cold and windy so we didn't hear a lot of birds gobbling like usual but this guy fired up a couple hundred yards behind us around 8:30. He had hens right off the roost so we waited him out. When he was ready to come and see us it happened fast! He made the 25 yard shot and dropped him in the decoys. 26.5 lbs 28 mm hooks and 11.75 in beard! It's going to be a hard bird to beat! I can't get these pics uploaded. I'll work on it and try to get them on here.
Very neat. Congrats to the both of you. Nothing beats seeing a kid out hunting and the success is just the icing.
Beautiful morning to be out. At least in the northern part of the state.
