Pros: The attachement to the tree is silent and rock solid.
Cons: The "fluid" head is JUNK. The two arms are not long enough, plan on buying the extra section to make it longer.

I should have listened ... I know better. When looking for a camera arm, I spoke to many experienced guys and they recommended many good brands, most of which ran about $250 or more for a good set up. But I liked the look of the tree attachment of the Lone Wolf and the company reputation, so I rolled the dice and gambled.

I can say that the only redeming feature in this tree arm is the tree attachment portion. Solid cast aluminum, with cast in hangers. The strap is quiet and fast to attach. The leveling system is slick and simple. But that is where the good in this arm stops.

The "fluid" head is a joke. It is the biggest piece of crap ever and not worth the plastic it took to mold the parts. Right to left movement is OK, and the side to side leveling works. But the up and down panning is the most clunky and jerky motion you could imagine. Not even good enough for the amature of amature hunting footage. IT FLAT SUCKS. Also, you can not pan left to right if the video camera is pointed relatively level (like on a deer 100 yards or so out in a field. The elevation handle smacks the tree arm itself.

Then to top it off, the two sections of arm are not enough arm to film anything other than what is right in front of you. Good luck pivoting the camera around the side of a tree to get footage 180 degrees from the camera.

My solution should have been to send the entire unit back, but I really liked the tree connection portion. So, I first ordered a third arm to extend my range of movement. Then I took off the junk head and threw it as far as I could on a construction site and let a roller flatten it. Then I placed an order with B&H Photo for a new Bogen 700RC2 fluid head. When the fluit head came in, I had to TIG an aluminum adaptor disk to the Lone Wolf arm and drill out the mounting hole. But when it was done, I had a camera arm that was 100x what I originally purchased. Unfortunately, I had to spend another $110 on top of the original $100 to make the arm even high end amaturish usable. I should have listened to others and just spent money on a quality set up to begin with. That or build my own in my shop.

Lessons learned.
