Pros: Flexible Hook System
Cons: Smallish Color Selection

Early in the Spring I came across Roland Martin\'s smiling face on a spinnerbait package at Bass Pro Shops in Cincinnati, Oh. I studied the package to see what if anything made Leverage different from any of the 50 other spinnerbait manufacturers on the market. The answer did not come to me standing in the store, although I did purchase 2 spinners and a buzzbait on that first trip. I took them all out of the package as I stood in the parking lot and played with the flexible hook before sticking them in my tackle box. I remember wondering if the thing worked.

I threw them several times throughout the Spring. The spinners especially were productive with the water still on the warm-up. The heads, blades, arms and skirt all proved to be very durable as I bounced them off about every piece of cover I could find.

The true test came this Summer while I was wading for smallmouth. I was throwing a different manufacturers buzzbait, and I actually had 2 great strikes in a row and lost both smallies as they danced across the creek towards me. I was not happy. I reached in my box and noticed the Leverage buzzbait that I had purchased months before. I flicked the flexible hook as I tied it to my line. I never switched back. I threw it until I lost it. And I went and bought more. I lost noticeably fewer hooked fish from that day on. I now fully believe in the Leverage system in which the flexible hook moves with the fish to take away the firmness inherent in buzzbait and spinnerbaits and allows a fish to throw the hook.

I actually inquired to Leverage later in the Summer and have since been brought onto their Pro Staff. I cover the new Bass Pro Shop in Clarksville, IN. for them.

Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.
