A Wild Turkey was taken recently in western Kentucky that is a new world record. It weighed just over 37 pounds. The Turkey is officially on the NWTF Website as being the heaviest Turkey ever taken by a hunter.
The Turkey is definitely a trophy. It was taken close to Barkley Lake in an area with a good amount of farmland and large forest. I believe Indiana has also produced a few Wild Turkeys over 30 pounds over the years.
