I have been looking at having a pond dug. My farm land has a low spot and stays in standing water alot. This property has been in the family for 70 years +. Im wondering if anyone has any leads or tips about maybe having a pond dug. I know several years ago the county or state was doing this for some farmers. Just thought it would be worth a shot to see if I could get any leads ya never know. Thanks
Don't quote me on this, but I can remember a farmer talking at the co_op
Some years ago doing just that but he had to designate x amount of land around it as a wild life resting area or habitat and it would be for life and the state would take ownership apon death of land owner.....or you can contact ducks unlimited and see what they can do for ya...it's worth a shot..

I don't know all the details on it, but my cousin got it done at his place. He placed so many acres in what I believe was federal program. They came and dug a pond and planted trees and paid him to do it. My understanding is that he can still sell his property but any future owners cannot undo what has been done to his property.
I believe it's the wetland reserve program a buddy of mine had a pond dug several years ago.He split the cost with the program to come out do a indepth survey and a plan on water run off, permits and such this was in whitley co.I'll try to get a hold of him today and get more specific info
