Welcome to the board, not a lot of action on here. You might check with some of the local bait shops, they may have some info for you.

Sylvan Lake was a good choice. You have Waldron Chain that is right across the street from you. I know a guy just posted a report about good Walleye, Crappie, bluegill, and Perch fishing in this northern Indiana lake. There is a quite a bit of info that rolls through on there.

If your just strictly after crappie I can tell you it's hard to beat Hamilton Lake for the upper end size. I've seen several over 18" come out of there. They will be stacked in the shallows now. Lake James Chain has giant redear and some good sized bluegill. Good luck
