Fancy Shotgun Expert needed...

Discussion in 'Reloading, Target Shooting, and Modern Firearms' started by Old Ironsights, Feb 24, 2007.

  1. Anybody know of an expert type in European Doubles & Drillings?

I just aquired a nice early 1900s 16ga no-nitro Damascus Double and a slightly later Double Drilling (maybe 9.3X64R ) and need to get them checked out/proofed.

    (Also a "zulu" 12ga Snider-type forager conversion...)

  2. Proofed? I do hope they make it through it ! But they are fine looking doubles! I do hope you can shoot them instead of just being wall hangers.

  3. I don't know anyhting about those but they are all really nice.

  4. I don't expect to be ale to shoot the Damascus much if at all because it was never nitro-proofed - maybe someone will tell me it's OK with some specialized light ammo. Bore's pretty rough though.

The Drilling's bores are like glass though. Also 16ga (full choke). I'm looking forward to shooting that one most - the rifle bore needs lapping, but it's passible. Could be a fun varminting/small game gun.

The Zulu is cool, but again, BP 12ga only, and a VERY rough bore.
