    Great story here:

Last winter break (we're all teachers) I and two buddies went to the Spencer, Iowa area to hunt pheasant for 3 days...12 hour trip, and I know we're nuts.

On the last day I lost my dog's e collar...thought I'd never see it again.

Just last night I got a call from the Iowa DNR. They were in the process of burning off the area I was hunting and found the collar.

    Needle in a hay stack

Who says good things don't come to bird hunters?

I drive 12 hours to hunt 3 days so don't think you're nuts. # years ago opening day I lost my bird carrier we went back and hunted the same area 2 days later and the other guy I was with had his dog lock up on point and low and behold it was my bird carrier. I would have to say I agree with your statement. I am assuming they called you before they burned the field.

    Neat story

Neat story. I like your experience better than mine...especially the dog pointing.

Yes, they found the collar before the burn. In fact, the guy who found it just lit his torch, looked down, and there it was.

Good things happen to bird hunters
