  1. Public input soughton hunting in refuge
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment of the impact of hunting at the 50,000-acre Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, in Jefferson, Ripley and Jennings counties.

Fishing and hunting for deer, turkey and squirrel are now allowed at the refuge. But a federal court has said the agency didn't adequately consider the cumulative impact of permitting hunting in numerous areas. MEMBERS :We need to send in emails in support of hunting and fishing at Big Oaks. Some animal rights activist have gotten a federal judge to rule in their favor and try and stop hunting. There are three plans of alternative action:

Alternative A : (This is the preferred plan) Keep hunting and fishing the way it is now in all accessible areas.

Plan B: Stop hunting and fishing in the daily use areas.

Plan C : Stop hunting and fishing in all area.
