PORTER - On Friday, campers will head through the gates of the Indiana Dunes State Park to set down stakes or set up their recreational vehicles, officially kicking off the camping season. On Wednesday, the park officially unveiled the renovated campground that was closed to campers last season while it underwent a $3.2 million facelift, resulting in larger campsites, improved restroom and shower facilities, and an abundance of asphalt roadways. Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman led the official ribbon-cutting, championing the state's new push to attract tourism to the Hoosier state, now headed by the newly created Indiana Office of Tourism Development.
