Just wondering, I know Kingsbury is reserved for spring turkey. Anybody know about fall turkey? Can I just show up and hunt? What about hours too? All day, or just until noon?
Good luck, not much traffic at all. Michigans site has literally thousands of people on it at any given time. I too have the time and have been looking through some of the old threads.Wow not much traffic on this site. This inquiry is 6 years old??? Well since I got Covid and all my deer hunts got stolen from me, I'm doing virtual hunting stuff and looking in the archives. I live in LaPorte and go to Kingsbury 20 minutes south of me sometimes. I just called down there. They don't do any fall firearm, but they do have a fall archery turkey season from Dec. 5 - Jan. 3. I think I'll go down and try that a few times just to get out of the quarantine house.
They hide in the off limits woods . If you drive down that main road and park at the first available spot. Walk along the fence and set up around there. Me and my son watched them come out of there all last winter. Im at pulaski right now for fall turkey.Just returned from scouting KB and I would strongly suggest finding some birds before buying a fall permit. I saw zero birds, zero tracks and zero droppings at all my best spots. I forgot they pool up this time of year. It's all or nothing. I had plenty of birds located for spring season, but this is totally different. They could all be on private. Either way better find'em first.
Thanks JB, The wife and I just moved here last year, so I'm learning these places from scratch. I got their spring movements patterned real well. Did you hunt both north and south sides of the main road? They hide in the off limits woods . If you drive down that main road and park at the first available spot. Just the left side. Im on hunting ground one. Ive been seeing a flock cross the road at 11 every afternoon. All set up for tommorow. I have a feeling they roost right by the dnr building. Because 400 yards away they goes into private properties. I am from lafayette and no matter which way I go its an hour to turkey lol. Love turkey hunting though. I usually go to sugerridge its more down south. Lot of turkey and deer. I hear stueben county has the most birds in indiana. Thanks JB, The wife and I just moved here last year, so I'm learning these places from scratch. I got their spring movements patterned real well. I actually like JP better but it's a full hour drive from my home. Only 20 minutes to KB. I got the spring patterns locked down at JP as well. Lots of toms at both properties.

Your welcome any time.
At JP I bow hunted the archery only zone all last fall. And scouted it this spring. Found several flocks roosting in the bow zone and venturing out from there to feed.
I'm not impressed with Indiana deer management, but turkey management is very conservative and the public land shows it. One bird limit and short 3 day public hunts. Another contributor is the no fee to enter public lottery. No fee = nothing to lose so lots of guys draw but don't bother to hunt. Last spring, many days I'd stop at KB to scout and the sign in sheet was completely clean! I'm hoping they conduct the no show draws next spring. Will hunt both KB & JP.
Pulaski same luck. All the toms are together on private land... There's 15 of them I see them every mourning and it just oh man!!!!! I have seen 5 hens together and I am tracking them now. I hope you get one buddy.Set up by the contaminated area fence Sunday but no birds. I didn't hear anything either so I suspect they may have moved to the South side of the road.
I could wish I could show you my on x map. It won't let me upload the pic for you. The place we hunted was right were 600 crisscrossSet up by the contaminated area fence Sunday but no birds. I didn't hear anything either so I suspect they may have moved to the South side of the road.
I'll be there Sunday about 7. Field 1 and 10 I have seen fresh beds and in field 10 there's a tree scratched all the way up past my head. I am 6 feet 2 inches. Whatever did that is huge. I'm heading there now. I'm checking 2 and 4 out today. I'll let you know what I see. There's fresh tracks on 9 yesterday too. And it looks like no hunters have been there.I am going to run down to Danville area for some late season archery deer after Christmas. Will be driving right past JP en route, so will stop by and glass some fields, try to locate. Probably Sunday.
Got cheated out of my deer season due to the virus, so I just got to get out regardless of low chance of arrowing a buck. Will scout for next year if nothing else. Hoping for snow and cold.
