So my Masterbuilt took a crap and no longer works. When I plug it in to the outlet I can hear it beep, but the electronic module doesn't turn on. I've had this happen before and Masterbuilt was polite enough to send me a new one.

Haven't tried calling them again, but was wondering if anyone has converted an electronic smoker? I was thinking of somehow using some type of electric skillet/pan in there and keeping track of time the old fashion way.

Just don't feel like spending money on a new one at this point.

Thanks...

How to use wood pellets in an electric smoker
Thanks...
looking for opinions on folks who use electric smokers and their experiences.

the main reason i want to go electric over conventional is more for the purpose of "cold smoking" especially since the big thing i like to make is different types of jerky and landjaeger sausage. i would occasionally like to cold smoke fish as well.

ive tried to do my research online and the reviews seem to be split 50/50 on the good and bad which covered several different brands. any insight from a 2cooler is always appreciated more than online reviews.

looking at the masterbuilt 30", char broil 725, and smoke hollow. just cant seem to narrow it down.
