SOUTH BEND - A long-sought proposal to build an inn at Potato Creek State Park near North Liberty appears to be coming true. State Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Lakeville, said Tuesday that the state Department of Natural Resources plans to pioneer a public-private partnership effort to build a lodging facility at the park with more than 100 rooms and a full-service restaurant. Walorski said the inn will likely cost around $10 million. "I'm so excited," Walorski said in a telephone interview from Indianapolis. According to Walorski, the park project will represent the DNR's "first foray into this type of joint venture for new construction." Walorski said the project "will allow the DNR to pursue tourism, quality of life and the enjoyment of our state's natural resources while not further encumbering the budget of the state of Indiana with more expenses."
