Road closure

Discussion in 'Questions about Indiana Hunting/Fishing Laws' started by HoosierEric, Nov 14, 2017.

  1. So, without getting into too many details, DNR has closed a county road that leads to a fwa. Previously, my Dad had a letter from the county identifying this road as a county road and he was given permission to clear any trees that were fallen across the road. Due to some problems with landowners in the area, the DNR has placed a wire across the road to prevent anyone from driving down the road. Anyone have any suggestions or know of any statutes that could remedy this? Doesn't seem like this is legal.
  2. It's hard to help without details but have you talked to the county?

  3. Their response was, "sorry about that."
  4. I don't know for certain but I would think that the state would have to file some kind of petition with them to be able to close a legal county road. If you are serious about getting to the bottom of it look at commissioner meeting minutes or call the county clerk. Any petition should be on record.
