Found out how to tell a male from a female squirrel...shake the tree, and if you hear nuts rattle, it's a male.

Sorry, just couldn't resist:)

Actually from late fall on, if you see a squirrel chasing another the chasing squirrel is a male. Really works and is a lot less work:biggrin:

Bucks only squirrel hunting is ok, I just don't want to have to start measuring the spread between the ears before knowing if it's a shooter squirrel.

If I have a choice I'd rather leave the ones that will produce more squirrels. There will always be a couple of happy male squirrels left over:)
