Dog really has a hard time in deep snow...hunted for about 45 min. near Kendallville...dog actually tracked a hen about 15 yards under the snow...didn't see any tracks...darn bird was crawling/running under the snow.

Looks like it's going to be tough the rest of the season, but when you hunt cover, you can about tell where the birds are going to be.

Next week the annual quail hunting trip to Southern Indiana...

Hit em hard this weekend. Shot 1 thursday after work, 1 rooster and 2 quail on friday, and shot 2 roosters yesterday. Say a covey of Pheasant get up 25 or more in a 5-7 foot area, it was really cool. Have fun down south.

I had the same troubles. I thought the dog worked great, we just weren't kicking up any birds. Was rather entertaining watching the dog act like a snow submarine half the day. He did flush out half a dozen rabbits, but I was never in position or ready for a shot. I'd have to give the pup an "A" for effort, myself a failing grade. I know walking through all those drifts, I slept pretty good when we got home!
