Hi All, I'm trying to get some info on your experiences with hunting turkey on public. I'm not looking for anyone's spots, just want to try to rule out places that don't have many birds. Are there any places you'd stay away from?
hunting turkey is all about the roost. private or public. find the roost and set up blind and decoys, within 100yrds, before light. let them make the first noises. you will hear them clucking and milling around before fly down. i makes some clucks nd purrs but very minimal. i will also shake my ball cap really hard a couple times. it sounds like a bird fluffing up getting ready to or already few down. you want them to see the decoys before coming off roost. spring gobblers are a pretty easy score in the hunting world. do your homework and its over soon after it starts!
by the way. you find the roost by walking around looking feathers and droppings in a heavier area. then set a morning or two watching from distance so not to disturb them.
