muzzleloader turkey

My son nad I have both taken birds in Indiana with a muzzleloading shotgun in 12 guage.

The difficult part is finding the right combination of wad and patches to keep the patter tight. We use 1 ounce shot with 85 grains of powder with a combination of fibre wads and paper patches. We found it very important to have a thick "over patch" in front of the shot load.

One thing is sure you only get one shot!

By the way we limited our shots to under 25 yards, past that we lost a tight pattern.
