I was just thinking the same thing! Thinking I might get out this weekend, not sure where to go. Haven't spoken to anybody about any decent spots. Don't ice fish much. But would like to do some more. Very north central in. Not a ton of lakes up here. Any info would be much appreciated!

I saw a couple of guys on the bay at Coldwater Lake when I went to Michigan earlier this week, but haven't heard of anyone doing much around NE In. in the last week or so.

It certainly makes the winter go by quicker when there is something to look forward to in January when deer season ends.
Most people think i am crazy because i get excited when i hear the temps are heading to single digits.

There's finally some arctic cold hanging out at the Canadian border. Just need a good push and some may get down to us, hoping New Years brings some ice.

Well, things aren't looking good for ice. Mother Nature needs to wake up and send some arctic temps our way.
Had a buddy ask me to go to Northern Minn next week to fish, but I couldn't swing it. Still hoping for some cold here.

Agreed! I’d like to nock the dust off of the ice gear myself. Was thinking about doing a weekend run up to Cadillac area

Going back to about 2005 there was a long stretch were we had ice the last saturday in Feb here in the Morgan/Putnam Co. area .
I would do the polar punge at Eagle Creek that day, then leave to meet my buddies to ice fish several years in a row. I don't have much confidence in getting ice by then, but I will still cross my fingers.
I have tried to post video of me and my buddy from a few years ago. We were getting our first ice so i called him and he said head over, his pond was good. Got there and he hadn't actually checked, and there was only about 2", maybe. So, not to be denied, we took his two small john boats, slid one on the ice, got in it, slid the other past it, got in the second, and did that til we got to our spot. We then drilled some holes around the boats and preceeded to fill our buckets.

I'm still holding out hope. The forecast has us getting below zero in a week, with some single digits after for a few days. Lots of arctic air at the border, lows near -30 degrees. We just need a some of that to slide down here.

You ain’t wrong my friend! I’ve seen some guys on southern mi lakes, but we got dumped on with a bunch of snow, so it’s kinda sketchy as far as I’m concerned.

Yea, the snow didn't help, and hopefully Wednesday stays cold and doesn't go 39 and rain as forecasted. Pics are my buddies shanty he made several years ago, 3 guys 2 holes each. They fold down and can be pulled.

That looks pretty slick! I fished in one a couple years ago on lake simco that had seats on each side and basically two trenches cut in the ice for each side. It was the most comfortable shack I’ve fished out of!

Not much longer now, below zero temps on the horizen, getting the sled and bucket out of storage this weekend, and get ready.
