Reserved turkey hunt check-in time change
------------------------------------------

Turkey hunters drawn for reserved hunts at eastern or central Indiana public
properties will not need to register at the property until 5:30 a.m.

"The sunrise is later in the day in areas that have changed to Eastern Daylight
Time, so we can register the hunters a little later in the morning," said DNR
wildlife biologist Mark Reiter.

The DNR's reserved turkey hunt drawing was March 20. Applicants were notified of
the results by mail. However, the notice was printed before time change details
were finalized and successful applicants in both new time zones were told to
register at properties at 4:30 a.m.

Public reserved turkey hunts starting one hour later (5:30 EDT) because of
recent time changes are at:
- Pigeon River FWA
- Tri-County FWA
- Wilbur Wright FWA
- Atterbury FWA
- Minnehaha FWA
- Hillenbrand FWA
- Fairbanks Landing FWA
- Crosley FWA
- Splinter Ridge FWA
- Mississinewa Lake
- Salamonie Lake
- Roush Lake
- Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge
- Atterbury Military Maneuver and Training Center

Hunters applied for reserved hunts before March 15 through the DNR's Website or
via a mail-in card enclosed in the 2005-2006 Indiana Hunting and Trapping Guide.

Hunters could apply for reserved turkey hunting dates at 16 DNR properties, one
military property and two national wildlife refuge areas during the 2006 spring
turkey season.

The 2006 spring turkey season runs April 26 to May 14.
