Anyone hunting migratory game birds (ducks, coots, geese,
mergansers, doves, snipe, sora rails or woodcock) must have an
"Indiana [state] hunting license" and a HIP registration number.

An Indiana [state] waterfowl stamp "privilege", purchased through a local retailer, is ALSO required for hunting ducks and geese. The waterfowl stamp privilege is covered under the youth license. There must be an
original signature, in ink, on the license on which the stamp
privilege is issued.

Commemorative (traditional) waterfowl stamps
do not convey hunting privileges.

Additionally, anyone 16 YEARS OR OLDER must [also] have a signed "Federal Duck Stamp" when hunting
ducks and geese.

Landowners or lessees, hunting on farmed land
they own or lease, must obtain a HIP registration number AND have
a federal duck stamp when hunting waterfowl.

For a list of Indiana Outdoor license retailer locations,
or to purchase licenses and stamp privileges online, go to
IndianaOutdoor.IN.gov.

For more information, call the Indiana
DNR Customer Service Center at (317) 232-4200. You can order
federal duck stamps by calling 1-800-782-6724 or by going to
www.fws.gov/duckstamps.

I also had to take the class for out of state hunting. Back then there was no online class and the classes were few and far between. We had to drive all the way down to Richmond from near chicago. While the class was not at all challenging and nothing was really gained it was still fun. I took the class with my father and grandfather so that was an awesome experience. And i got to shoot a bow whiich I had never done before at that point.
